Men's BreakfastReadings 2010-2011Readings from Luke (Sept. 2009 - May 2010)Sitka Men's Breakfast Group is an ecumenical gathering of
Christian men. We meet every Wednesday morning at the Sitka Pioneer
Home in the Crafts Room on the lower level. Breakfast is served at
6:30am. This meal is the best buy in town.
Food
is a big part of our gathering. But the center of our circle is the
Gospel. Around 7:00am we begin our scripture reflection. This
reflection does not require that we have Biblical background or
training. What it does require is that those participating are open
enough to hear what the words of scripture stir in their own heart and
mind, and then share this with the others present. What makes this
circle so vital is the trust that God's Holy Spirit speaks to all
present through the words each are moved to share.
Our
journey together is designed to help us discover what it means to be a
Christian man in our day and age, in the place that God has planted us.
We are frequently caught up short by the insigts the Spirit raises in
the midst of our circle.
In the
words of an old Alka-Seltzer commercial, "Try it! You'll like it!"
