St. Peter's Archives

St. Peter's archives are now located in a safe, accessible location - right next to the See House. Our archivist, Nancy J. Ricketts (photo on right), is delighted with the new space. Thanks to the many hands who helped construct and finish the building.

Ricketts has been a member of St. Peter's for over 30 years. She is also a long-time member of the Society of American Archivists and bears the title of Archivist Emeritus at Sheldon Jackson Library from which she is now retired. Kettleson Library and the Sitka Historical Society and Museum house collections she has brought into being. She has written a number of documented histories of institutions such as the Sitka Summer Music Festival and the Sitka Conservation Society. Ricketts is the author of A Brief History of St. Peter's by-the-sea Episcopal Church to the Year 2000, published in 2006.

Below are photos of the archives section of the building, both exterior and interior. Come back soon to see more photos or stop by the building after the 11am service this winter; Nancy hopes to fill the tall glass case soon with vestments.

Here are some of the items in our archives, either at St. Peter's or at the Sitka Historical Society and  Museum where they are on loan.
